Behind the Curtain – Halloween 2018 | Hocus Pocus

It’s that time of year again; I know, hard to believe! Once again the Visual Merchandising team has been hard at work making your magic filled dreams come true. This year we’ve had many special projects that have been under construction for months all waiting to take their place as we finalize our Halloween set.

Let’s start from the beginning.

First: the demo. Reimagining such a large selling space takes time for us to transition from everyday décor fabulousness to incredible Halloween spectacle! The in-between stage is best described as controlled chaos.

Before we get into the actual installation, let’s take a look at some of the projects that have been going on up to this point.

These shady characters have been lurking around for weeks just looking to get into trouble.

We planted a castle and it’s starting to bloom.

Pile o’ castle pieces.

An enlightened hog.

Our team spends many hours over the course of a few months to design and build the props. They are all in-house creations in which everyone has a part in bringing the vision to reality. Here’s an example of how detailed these projects can be.

Granite walls, from start to (nearly) finish:

Multiple team members honed their rock carving skills on this project.

Primer and base coat applied.

Details and shading added to the finish.

Let’s take a look at the progress inside, shall we?

It takes a village to build a new room inside the old one.

Wall treatments are applied and projects continue amongst the construction.

In the interest of not giving away too many secrets, I’ll have to stop here. The final round is upon us as we race to get everything done in time for opening. Stay tuned, as I will be posting a closer look at the finished set in a few weeks. Until then we’re gonna’ keep our noses to the grindstone and concentrate on bringing you the best Rogers Gardens Halloween experience yet!

I warned you.
